Schwieters History
A family tradition of
Hardwork, Respect & Trust of Others
Bob Schwieters was born on a dairy farm in Greenwald, Minnesota. He was one of twelve children born to Herbert and Aurelia Schwieters. He graduated from Melrose High School in Melrose, Minnesota and continued his education at Granite Falls Vocational School. His parents taught their children hard work, respect for others, and willingness to help people was the key to success.
In 1972, Bob started as a sales person at Baston Chevrolet in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Applying the work ethic and principles his Dad had taught him, he became the top salesman at the dealership. He quickly progressed to jobs in management and worked at various dealerships in St. Cloud, Sheboygan & Milwaukee. He gained valuable lessons in the automotive business including the importance of recognizing employees for their hard work and how teamwork is key to accomplishing goals.
In 1998, Bob Schwieters, with the support of his wife, Kathy returned back home to central Minnesota. They purchased Gloege Chevrolet in Glenwood, Minnesota. With a simple philosophy his parents taught him, he operated Schwieters Chevrolet where customers came first. To achieve this company culture, Bob realized his employees needed to be treated fairly and with trust.
Bob Schwieters built the Glenwood dealership into a successful auto dealership and many of the employees he hired are now in management positions.
In January, 2003 he had the opportunity to purchase Kiess Chevrolet in Cold Spring, Minnesota. Bob's son, Grant along with his wife, Angie and their son, Alexander returned to Cold Spring were Grant became the General Manager. Since then, Grant and Angie have added two more children, Autumn and Harrison to their family. Angie's support and hard work taking care of their children when they were young allowed Grant to focus on the dealership. Now the kids are older, so they both work at the store. Truly a family effort. Grant was no stranger to the automotive business. He was purchasing automobiles for other dealerships in Wisconsin in addition to both Schwieters Chevrolet locations in Glenwood and Cold Spring.
The principles Bob learned from his parents were taught to his children. "Completely Satisfied" is not only a slogan, but the main reason why Schwieters Chevrolet has become successful. Their main goal is to take care of the customer during the purchase and all future service needs. Schwieters Chevrolet will do everything possible to satisfy their customers.
In 2012, Bob Schwieters sold his dealership in Glenwood to an employee who had worked at the dealership.
With the support of good employees, the Schwieters family has embraced several opportunities to expand. They purchased Roth Chevrolet in Willmar in 2013 and Kruze Ford in Montevideo in 2015. Both located in Minnesota. Grant Schwieters along with his father Bob are the owners, and have promoted individuals within the company to operate them.
The principles will be the same no matter which location you visit. The entire family of employees has tremendous respect and trust for each other and their culture is to create a pleasant experience and build lasting relationships.
